Disaster, Incident, and Situational Collaborative Operational Virtual Environment Resource for Mississippi
The Disaster, Incident, and Situational Collaborative Operational Virtual Environment Resource for Mississippi (DISCOVER MS) system is the result of collaboration between Mississippi’s Office of Homeland Security, Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Southeast Regional Research Initiative, and Jackson State University’s National Center for Biodefense Communications to bring Google’s familiar “flyable” globe to the First Responder community. The “flyable” globe is easy to use and explore. It aims to provide the right data at the right time in an easy to understand, user defined context allowing the First Responder to make better decisions through incident and disaster planning, mitigation, response, and recovery. living project that will develop as the end-user’s needs dictate. Alabama and Louisiana both use a Google solution that Mississippi’s globe will complement and ensure true data interoperability.
